Dear friends,
some days ago I've been selected for a 5 months internship in the Coalition for the International Criminal Court.
This is a great opportunity to nurture my dream of working in the field of human rights promotion and in the fight against the world's worst crimes.
This network, in fact, represents more than 2500 organizations from 150 countries that collaborate to strengthen the international cooperation with this Court born in 1998 to end the impunity usually enjoyed by the authors of this heinous crimes committed around the world and more specifically; war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
During these months I will work in the European office of the organization which is based in Brussels. This covers a wide area including wester Europe, the Balkans, Turkey, and the former soviet republics. The work to be done is huge. The office, in fact, should: promote the activities of the Court and the aims that have been at its foundation to the public, promote the ratification process in those countries that didn't signed yet the Rome Statute of the Court, monitor the fulfillment of the duties derived form the Statute and, finally, to ensure an effective and efficient cooperation between the European Union and the Court.
Unfortunately this internship doesn't provide any form of reimbursement and I cannot sustain myself alone for so long in Brussels. I decided to go anyway not to miss this opportunity to reach my dream, but I thought to ask your help to achieve it. I will, in exchange, share with you this experience through this blog where we will talk about the Court's activities, the researches I'll have to carry out, and the current news concerning the prosecution of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. It will be a common learning path, because I'll share with you all the things I will learn during this experience and you will be invited to participate, ask clarifications, raise doubts and discuss all the arguments.
I'm really looking forward to start this experience!
If you want contribute to this project, I opened a page on a crowdfunding website, Kapipal, where you can leave a small contribution. This money will be used to partially cover my subsistence costs for the 5 months of the internship.
I will try to get the rest through a part-time job in the evenings and the week-ends. Each contribution, even small, is more than welcome and will receive my appreciation.
There are also some symbolic rewards for those people that will contribute more consistently. Donations are made with Paypal but you don't need to have a paypal account to do it.
During the procedure you will be asked to leave your name and your mail. these information will be only visible to me and will give me the opportunity to thank you directly and personally.
Hugs!
